WHAT IS IT?

This is a simple modification of the Hill Climbing Algorithm that has firms (turtles) moving towards increasing fitness by following the gradient. Two search strategies are employed here. The firms titled shorts follow increasing gradient hill climbing utilizing resources that increase the speed. On the other hand, the longs invest select those resources that confer them with a broader vision allowing them to identify not just local hills but also higher hills within their field of vision. However, there is a catch as increasing vision comes at the expense of share the firm appropriates

THINGS TO NOTICE

There are two things to notice. First there is the slider that adjusts the smoothness of the environment. More smoother lesser the ruggedness of the landscapes thus gradually sloping up or down.

There are two search strategies. In one the nearsighted firms follow the hill climbing logic while the far sighted ones choose a partner that allows them to idenify hills within vision cone.

THINGS TO TRY

Try to see how the proportion of firms reaching the highest hills changes with the topography. Check out how the firm's share long-tot and the entrepreneurs' share differ when choosing resources.
